Long Story Long…
I didn’t plan to start a company. I planned to get my mom safely settled into a nursing home while juggling a life 3,000 miles away, a demanding leadership role at a tech company, and a wall of emotions I didn’t see coming.
If you’re here, you might be living some version of that too.
In our case, everything happened fast. I initially took a long weekend and flew to my parents to help pick out a new nursing home, only to realize it was an empty space I needed to fully furnish and supply. I quickly changed my flight, and spent an emotional and chaotic week working, running from store to store shopping for everything we needed, and googling “items for a nursing home” at 11 pm.
My list was growing and endless: we needed to rent a hospital bed and hoyer, buy sheets and blankets for a hospital bed, make sure everything was safe and comfortable — furniture, curtains — and all the little things like paper towels, dish soap and senior safe bath mats. I remember standing in an aisle with a cart full of “maybe” because I didn’t know what was actually needed.
That week is why The Golden Move exists.
